Mehdi

Instep Today: What is your collection about?

Mehdi: The latest Collection by Mehdi is an ode to the innocence of love and magic of romance. Subtlety is the key, with shades of ivory serving as the palette; accents of flirtatious pinks and trimmings of chocolate brown and denim. Whimsical layers of chiffon and muslin crafted with delicate embellishments of threads, pearls and beads. The collection delves into the realm of the mysterious, playing with exotic colours and flirtatious moods to create a seductively compelling line.

IT: Your view of holding four fashion weeks in the country?

Aadesh Srivastava Lashes Out at Pakistani Artists!

Lashes

Music director Aadesh Srivastava, expressed his ire at the trend of Pakistani artists coming to India and trying to become a part of the Indian music industry. “In no way is this a discrimination on the basis of one’s nationality or religion. The thing is. We’ve got enormous music talent in our own country, and there is no need to peep in the neighbouring country (Pakistan) for artists.” Srivastava said. He added that despite his being a big fan of Pakistani singers like Ghulam Ali, he nursed a grudge against them for not reacting to the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. “I am deeply saddened that NO Pakistani artist reacted to the dastardly attacks in Mumbai, and I can never forget this,” he said. And Srivastava is not alone. He’s found support in playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has been very vocal about his discontent against Pakistani artists in India. “India is entertaining people who are taking from you without ever giving back anything in return. They (Pakistanis) have never promoted Indian singer.” he said. Even as the industry people hold such views, there are others like Pritam, who feel that “they’re singers, and not Pakistanis or Indians.”

Ali Zafar – R u a pro at being a Pakistani?

Zafar

I read it in pieces but I could relate to it as yesterday i saw one of our leading artists sitting on a news channel claiming his bravery as to how he was the only one to have appeared on the show to speak against Taliban and all the others are cowards .I chose to sit and witness a very naive conversation where the suggested idea was to “speak” to these suicide bombers and convince them that it is not Islamic to blow themselves up and they should come on the right path. I fail to assimilate that how could we ignore the current and the historical geo political and economic aspects that directly co-relate to the evolutionary in culmination of this phenomenon, over the last many decades, alongside the massive blunders done by our leadership. We created a monster in decades and expect it to disappear in days. Not possible. And certainly not by putting a hand on their shoulder and saying” dude, this is not the real Islam. Come to the right Islam”. What world are we living in. All that you see is politically driven by international economical interests rather than religion. Religion has been used throughout history just to safe guard these interests. Not just Islam but Christianity at one time and also other religions. It’s no rocket science.

Maryam Kizilbath

A New Beginning (Chapter 1)

Wow! So I am finally getting down to this… So much has happened, so much needs to be said.. and at times I am left speechless. I am starting this blog mainly to share my experiences with Jaffar. I might go off track at times, but bear with me as I share my reflections, along with my patched past and hopes for the future that awaits me.

A Peak Into Our Past

After going round and round in circles, my husband Jaffar and I eventually realized that we were meant to be together. Neither one of us is perfect, but we are perfect for each other. To say that we are happy with each other would be a gross understatement; we’ve found great peace of mind with each other, and hope permeates us now that we have each other to cherish and hold onto.

“The Bhatts should be investigated”

Abhijeet

Abhijeet

ITI SHREE MISRA

Abhijeet gets talking about how his badbolapan gets him into trouble, why the Bhatt family should be looked up by the cops, why he feels angry to see Pakistani singers and musicians being invited to India to perform when India has loads of talent and getting choosy about work.

ABHIJEET KO GUSSA KYUN AATA HAI?

Gussa and me? No, I don’t get angry ever. Yes, I am emotional and that’s why sometimes I tend to react strongly. And this comes from my being a UPite. We are emotional people. I can’t see any wrong being done and that’s why I raise my voice which people mistake for temper or arrogance.

Art should be free from Boundaries

- Neha Jain, Sampurn Media

Xulfi191109_1145A toy piano has played a crucial role in Aao Wish Karein’s composer-lyricist Xulfi’s life. It was his mastery over that toy piano that made his brothers gift him a bigger keyboard. And Xulfi, a self-taught musician and the ex-lead guitarist of the first Pakistani mainstream rock band Entity Paradigm, made the most of it.

Xulfi broke into Bollywood with ‘Laaree Chootee’ from Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, and has composed music for four Bollywood movies since. The founder of the band Call, and a rebel at heart, Xulfi is excited about releasing Call’s album Dhoom, working in Bollywood and wishing for a collaboration with Linkin Park.

From Jilawatan’s metal rock to Aao Wish Karein’s essentially pop rock, has Bollywood been constraining your music or do you have the freedom of composition?
