The frothiest icing on PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week’s victory cake is the Labels store launch today at Dubai’s multi brand retail store Studio 8. This is what business oriented fashion weeks are supposed to do.  They result in deals that take the business of fashion forward.

Labels at Studio 8 will house stalwarts Faiza Samee, Sonya Battla and Iman Ahmed’s Body Focus; fashion’s hottest stars Khadija Shah’s Elan, Ayesha Farooq Hashwani, Nomi Ansari, Sara Shahid’s Sublime and Sahar Atif; best sellers like Asifa and Nabeel, Jannat and Sadaf, Mina Hasan, Mahin Erum, Zahra Shahjahan, and launch US based Pakistani designer Zahra Saeed.

Ali Zafar knows to how to mix music with style and using the two as a promotional tool to sell his art. After debuting his single, ‘Jhoom’ at the recently concluded PFDC Fashion Week in Lahore, the singer repeated the same with a few changes.

The platform was the recently concluded Dubai Fashion Week where Ali Zafar was showstopper for HSY and managed to charm all those present at the event.

Khaleej Times reports: “Ending a long and packed day on the Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) ramp with a five-minute performance from Pakistani singer Ali Zafar can be quite a pleasant experience. Walking as designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin’s show-stopper, the singer sported a coffee-coloured, heavily embroidered sherwani, in keeping with the CPR-themed collection.”

Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) press conferences are getting better as time goes by. After the rather spectacular one they did in Lahore, announcing their fashion week complete with plasma screens, designers and celebrities in attendance and most importantly, an agenda to boot, the council held the second press conference relating to their fashion week in Karachi. The venue was PFDC’s Karachi branch of their fashion store, the Boulevard in Park Towers.

This one sealed the deal for the upcoming fashion week by announcing the arrival of a major sponsor – Unilever has stepped in with their brand Sunsilk to sponsor PFDC Fashion Week and work with them. It’s a union of fashion with big business that promises to lift the platform up to a whole new level.

Hadiqa Kiani to walk the ramp at PFDC Fashion Week

Hadiqa Kiani is branching out in a big way, reports Koolmuzone. As we have already mulled over earlier, Hadiqa is taking her love for all things colourful and daring to the next level by heading a salon, La Sinature, in Lahore. However, Hadiqa will once more dip an experimental toe in the glittery pool of fashion by reprising her role on the catwalk. Basically, after a show she walked for last year which she thoroughly regrets now, Hadiqa will be walking at the PFDC Fashion Week. Suddenly all some of us want to do is fly out to Lahore for a minute to watch Hadiqa being showstopper on the day.

Oh, did we not mention that? Hadiqa Kiani will be showstopper for designer duo Asifa & Nabeel. Hadiqa, who is very good friends with Asifa, has deigned only to be showstopper for them, while she may or may not be walking for HSY as well.

Instep Today: What’s your collection for the upcoming PFDC Fashion week about?

Ammar Belal: My inspiration is the King of Pop Michael Jackson and traces his life and legacy. We start from ‘Thriller’ which was very ’80s and ‘Bad’ which is very punk metal. I have picked 11 of his most iconic songs and videos and structured my show chronologically. In every video he wears a very specific look that had made a profound style statement like the white glove and the red jacket. So the first half of the show is punk rock and the second half has pieces with work on them. All pieces are very theatrical and dramatic.
