FPW2 to kick off in Karachi on Monday
FPW2 to kick off
in Karachi on Monday
With fashion weeks galore nipping at our heels the dream of having seasonal trends in fashion seems to have
been realized. Instep Today lays down the facts and speaks to some of those in the know about what to
expect at Fashion Pakistan Week.
Instep Desk
The dawn of a new era is upon us and brings with it fashion weeks. We can recap all that has been said and done last year at the first Fashion Pakistan Week held in Karachi or the recently held PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week held in Lahore but that is in the past and good or bad we should take a look at things to come.
A way to get on to the bandwagon of international acclaim and to be taken seriously by the world as a progressive nation, Pakistan has embarked upon fashion weeks. We are a country that is hungry for fashion and the public’s hunger is growing – lawn exhibits, tailors at every corner, fabric shops and lace shops have been around for ever and now new prêt stores open up every year in the main urban centres. With fashion weeks the business and power of the fashion industry is owning up to its stature, and is determined to build on it.
Coming Monday, the spotlight will be back on Karachi for five days straight. The buzz has already started in the city of lights as the fashion industry will set up camp here to make the week a success.
The Who:
We all expect to see our favorite big name designers showing off there collections and we won’t be disappointed on that note – Sana Safinaz, Faiza Samee, Shamaeel, Maheen Khan, Deepak Perwani, Umar Sayeed and Bunto Kazmi are all set to be part of the event. Also, Kamiar Rokni, a member of PFDC, is showing.
This time around we can see some new talent highlighted at Fashion Pakistan Week namely, Fayez Agariah, Saniya Maskatiya, Zaheer Abbas, Aziz Ali, Sana Rizwan, Anum Siraj, Zaina Haider and Summaiya Warsi, it will be a treat to see what these designers will be showing.
L’Oreal Paris is one of the sponsors for this event and will utilize its products for all the looks that will be seen on the ramp. We hope that both parties will bring their best to the table and give us something memorable, well-organized and exciting.
Saba Ansari of Sabs Salon will be working with L’Oreal as they create the ‘Look’ for Fashion Pakistan Week. Khawar Riaz is shouldering the responsibilities of creating the looks for and styling the men’s section. It’s the same duo that styled PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. Meanwhile, Wow Factor is managing the event with Bary Ibrahim and his team who did such a great job last time… on a shoestring budget to boot.
The What:
The 2nd Fashion Pakistan Week press conference unveiled that L’Oreal will be bringing their internationally coveted Black Carpet to Fashion Pakistan Week at which all celebrity interviews will be conducted and an official L’Oréal studio space revealed for fashionistas to experience their product range and expertise, from top to toe!’ Those of you who will be attending can expect to be pampered by L’Oreal and maybe walk away with a bag of goodies. Fashionistas in attendance should expect to see L’Oréal Pakistan spokeswomen Meesha Shafi, Sabina Pasha and Sanam Saeed to be present and taking center stage at the event throughout the week.
It’s most important to put aside the ‘who’s doing what and how’ about organizers and sponsors right now before the week begins. Now Instep will concentrate on the designers alone, focusing on the collections of veteran designers as well as the young bright sparks of fashion that we so look forward to seeing.
