An event organized by the alumni of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi, the Rebuild Rebound initiative has roped in a wide array of designers who have donated outfits to sell at a discount, all proceeds of which will go towards rebuilding the shops that were destroyed during the violent Ashura riots this year.
A large number of designers have risen to the occasion and donated luxury for a good cause. In alphabetical order they are: Adnan Pardesy, Ali Fateh, Body Focus, Bunto Kazmi, Deepak Perwani, Eena Alvi, Ensemble Design Studio, Feeha Jamshed, Heavenly Regalia by Nazneen Tariq (Jewellery), Hejab Zafar, Kamiar Rokni, Karma, Khaadi, Maheen Karim, Maheen Khan, Mahin Hussain, Malabis, Menahel and Mehreen, Munib Nawaz, Nida Azwer, Nilofer Shahid, Ritu Kumar, Rizwan Beyg,Sanam Agha, Sanam Chaudhri, Sana-Safinaz, Sanya Muneer, Sara Shahid, Sehyr Saigol, Sonya Battla, Tayyab Bombal, Troika (Shoes), Umar Sayeed, Unbeatable, Wardah Saleem, Wov (Hena Anwar),Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Zahabiya Jam, Zaheer Abbas and Zainab Sajid.
It’s heartening to see Ritu Kumar’s name there, who is one of the premier Indian designers. And it is superb to see the best names in the business on the list from Karachi as well as Lahore and from both fashion councils.
The sale will go on all day and a fashion show is planned at six in the evening for the benefit of the media. After all, to shine a spotlight on anything, you need to make the news!
